~ WINE ~
The Me Wah over the years has taken great pleasure in sourcing the wines for the wine list covering diverse varieties, regions and producers ensuring the wine list is well balanced to cover all dishes and tastes.
This commitment has resulted in the Me Wah being recognised in Australia's prestigious Wine List awards for 2008. The judging panel consists of some of Australia's finest wine and food writers – Peter Bourne, Maryann Egan, Ken Gargett, Nigel Hopkins, Ray Jordan, Campbell Mattinson, Graeme Phillips, Jeni Port, Nick Ryan, Nick Stock and Kim West. Under the direction of Chief Judge Peter Forrestal, each wine list is assessed and given a score and a rating: three glasses (90-100 points); two glasses (80-89 points); one glass (70-79 points). Those scoring less than 70 points do not receive a rating.
The Me Wah has been awarded: "three glasses highly recommended status".
These are the judging panel's comments in making this award:
"Me Wah is far from predictable, especially when it comes to its wine list, even serving chow mein with a 1997 DRC Richebourg. An impressive grouping of wines from around the globe – Grange and first growth Bordeaux rubs shoulders with New Zealand Pinot, Italian Merlot and top-rating Aussie labels".
