Hello, I'm Stephen Tso, Front of House Manager for the Me Wah, Australia's highest awarded Asian Restaurant and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and to share with you our exciting journey in bringing the finest Asian Cuisine to Tasmania.
In 1998, with the arrival of Hong Kong Master Chef Gordon Tso in Launceston, Northern Tasmania reached new heights in the provision of classic Cantonese cuisine. The Me Wah soon became the restaurant of choice for Asian food aficionados culminating in the Me Wah being voted Best Asian Restaurant in Tasmania for the years 1999-2011.
This was only the beginning and in 2007, we opened our stunning new flagship The Me Wah Hobartin prestigious Sandy Bay. Many believe this to have the finest Asian Restaurant decor in Australia. Certainly, the Master Builders Association was impressed, awarding the Me Wah Best Designed Restaurant in Tasmania
In 2007 and 2008 the accolades kept coming with the Me Wah being the recipient of not only Best Asian Restaurant in Tasmaniabut also Best Overall Restaurant in Tasmania. In 2008 we received what many consider the ultimate accolade being awarded the Best Asian Restaurant in Australia. An award we take seriously, as we continue as National Finalists in all Restaurant Industry Awards since. These successes are, I believe, a reflection of the finest Cantonese cuisine available in Australia or Hong Kong. Our team of Chefs, under the guidance of Hong Kong Master Chef Gordon Tso, prepares each dish from the freshest ingredients and these accompanied by fine wines are served by highly trained, knowledgeable food and beverage staff.
Of course it's not only our commitment for fine food that the Me Wah is known for but also the fine wines on offer. The Me Wah over the years has taken great pleasure in sourcing the wines for their wine list covering diverse varieties, regions and producers ensuring a wine list that is well balanced to cover all dishes and tastes.

Culminating in our quest for excellence in 2010 and again in 2011 being awarded Tasmania's Best Wine List.
The Me Wah Hobart has become a haven for romance, family celebrations and of course the corporate client with three private rooms being available catering from an intimate eight person seating up to 50 people for the larger private celebration or corporate event.
